What is a ploughing match

Why do we have a ploughing match? What does ploughing mean? A ploughing match is a contest between people who each plough part of a field. Nowadays there are usually classes for horse-drawn ploughs and for tractor ploughing.


Points are awarded for straightness and neatness of the resulting furrows.

Ploughing matches are held across the UK and throughout the year. They offer the chance for both novice and experienced ploughmen and women to take part.


A mashup is any two distinct things put together to make something which works.
