I depressed and released the clutch pedal, Only to realize that the clutch pedal got stuck half way up. It required a slight touch with my foot under the pedal, then the pedal sprang back to its normal position. Warning: Do not attempt to start the engine and drive the vehicle with the clutch pedal stuck all the way to the floor.
You could damage the clutch, the clutch fork, or the transmission. Put the cap back on and check the shaft in the back of the clutch master cylinder for any breakage or damage.
Step 3: Go into the cab and check the return springs for the clutch pedal. Is the clutch pedal stuck in half way up? When should I replace my clutch pedal? Why do clutch pedals stay on the floor?
Can you drive a car with a clutch pedal on the floor? I replaced the master and slave twice in case of defects and an authority shop replaced the entire clutch. Clutch pedal is sticking halfway up.
It still sticks half way and there is little pressure on the pedal. Sure enough when the pedal was depressed the holder for the spring would pull out of its notch and wedge itself against another plastic piece under there and that would cause the clutch to become stuck. Got into the car this morning and noticed that the clutch pedal is sticking in the middle.
For example: I push it down, and release it, it gets stuck in the middle, then pops up. Its happened a couple of times before when it was warm last year. This is a rare problem. So many of people have ran into clutch pedal issues pedal gets stuck coming back up after being engaged.
I’ve had this issue as well as many others. I have the same problem. Whatever you do do not try to bleed the clutch by pressing the pedal to the floor, use an easi-bleed or similar.
For the sticking pedal bit, three things to look at, return spring is worn, cluch pedal pivot requires lubricating. I go with the slave so remove the connection with the pedal and try the pedal on it own.
Take off the trim panel on the underside of the instrument panel, the trim panel that covers up all the pedal linkage. Do whatever contortions are necessary to stick your nose underneath the dashboard. Look up at the clutch pedal and where the push-rod comes through the firewall.
There is a white clip attached to the end of the clutch push-rod. The first time I encountered it was back in with a brand new Mk III VRGTI.
After repeated clutch bleeding by the dealership, I finally resigned myself to just reaching down and re-setting the pedal when needed. I managed to remove the other half which put clutch right. If the springs have broken, or are not properly locate they can cause the pedal to jam.
Check out the pictures of the springs in the linked thread. Lubricating the clutch pushro as described at the end of the threa might also help. Hi all, My Astra J 1. The last inches of travel when released is very rough and sticky.
Solution: The piston inside the clutch pedal assembly can sometime be expose to dust and dirt causing friction on the piston travel. Well worth doing, imo. Last year towards the end of the summer this started happening and never came back all winter now that its hot again its happening again. The clutch itself (Bite etc) seems fine, if you know what I mean.
My clutch pedal has been sticking, acting weird for a long time. I stumbled onto a video on showing the replacement process for the master cylinder and clutch pedal assembly and low and behold near the end it shows that the actuator arm to the back of the pedal is made of PLASTIC and is breaking clean off!
