World ploughing match 2016

Alyse was a very talente professional lady with a huge love for life and challenge and made our experience in Minnesota a very happy memory. This list is updated weekly throughout the year.


It is unique amongst large events in that it is held in a different part of the country each year. This keeps the event fresh and whilst many enthusiasts visit each year, moving to a different location also attracts many new visitors. PLOUGHING DUTCH NORTHERN SOUTHERN.

Under big skies just north of Cambridge on the edge of the Fens, competitors aimed to keep straight lines and a precise finish in various categories including vintage and rotavators.


When we took the decision to cancel the Match it was a difficult one. Who knew back in June whether we would be out of this mess and ready to get on with our lives? Clearly there is no way the Show could have been staged this year. A ploughing match is a competition to determine who of those present, is the best at ploughing.

King George Challenge Cup. Home guard members were not only busy practising wartime doodlebug and blackout drills, but also hatching a plan to form a society whose match was to become the biggest one-day draw for ploughmen. One ploughman came all the way from Dorset.


This was the 14th annual ploughing match run by the EAST ANGLIAN branch of the FERGUSON CLUB. Held this year on September at David Hues’ farm near Beckhampton, the fair-weather day produced a fine showing of vintage machinery with several splendid Fords and Fordsons of different eras, not to mention a mildly competitive atmosphere of bonhomie!
