What's involved in a car service

What does a full car service include? What is included in a car service? It varies from one manufacturer to another. If I had one as a weekend fun car it might cost me a grand a year.


Volkswagens will have an "oil change service" after the first year, which is an oil change and a basic. Oil and Filter change.

Basic or Interim Service. Each type of service builds on the previous level, so a basic service will typically include.


Let’s face it, most of us dread having to book our vehicle in for a major car service because of the time involved and the money it is going to cost. So we keep postponing the inevitable and think that we will make the call next month or next payday. A full service is a yearly check of your vehicle ’s engine oil, oil filter and air filter as well as a whole host of other visual checks to make sure your car isn’t developing any excessive wear and tear.


No matter how many miles you drive, it’s always worth booking a full service once a year. These usually include everything covered in a full service in addition the changing of spark plugs, fuel filters and more, as specified in your car’s servicing schedule.

An interim car service should be carried out every months or 0miles to keep your car safe and roadworthy in-between full services, which should be carried out every 10miles or months.
