Ploughing match rules

What is plough match? When are ploughing matches held? All Vintage Ploughs to be position by 9. Ploughing Match Host, and to finish at 12.

A Competitor committing an infringement of the rules shall, in the first instance, receive a warning and automatically forfeit marks.


Upon a second infringement, the Competitor will be disqualified by the Judges. Result: poor penetration, wide front fur-row, top link out of line with the centre of the tractor and furrows uneven. Plough not upright but leaning away from work in both ploughing directions.


Result: narrow front furrow, top link out of line with the centre of the tractor and. It brings people together all in the name of a bit of light (and not so light in some cases!) sportsmanship.
