Stirling bull sales october 2016

Once again the breed had easily the best clearance of the week at %. We have both a Shorthorn and an Angus bull forward for the sale in October alongside. The sales attract thousands of visitors from home and abroad and are an integral part of the farming calendar. With the eagerly anticipated dispersal of the Massie family’s Blelack herd the main feature of the day.

Averages were up on the year with bulls selling to £94 compared with averaging £5last year. A packed ring witnessed bulls selling to average £6and a clearance rate of 73% with the Charolais lots topping at 2000gns. Taking the top price was the reserve supreme champion, Goldies Lancelot from Bruce Goldie, which sold to Clive Richardson, Portadown. Champion and Top sale price of 10Gns was a son of Nightingale bred Proud Jake G405. They sold to a top of £15for Kilbride Farm Emperor and averaged just over £000. Limousins sold to a top of 500gn yesterday when the reserve overall champion went under the hammer.

Beef Shorthorn met a strong, level demand with bulls selling to a new October breed record top of 1000gns and £121.
