Emission control lamp meaning

Does the emissions light come on? Is the glowing emissions control light safe? What does an illuminated engine light mean? Can the emissions control system warn light up?


It really all depends on what made the Emissions Light come on in the first place, and what you consider to be “safe. Your emissions control reduces the amount of toxins that your vehicle delivers into the environment.

So if you are concerned about your carbon footprint, you may consider the glowing Emissions Control Light to be very important. When the check engine warning light is illuminated it’s often accompanied by tell-tale signs that the engine is not working properly, such as a lack of power or stuttering as you press the accelerator. An EML triggered by the oxygen sensor can mean the car is running too rich or too lean, or can be caused by a fault with the sensor itself.


To put this fault right may involve the reprogramming or. Merely A Sensor Error. When the emission light comes “ON,” but there are no interruptions in how your car operates, there is an issue with the sensor.


This, in turn, means that there are no potential risks that you have to look after. It is a common system failure that leads to the dashboard light malfunctioning.


It could be alerting you to one or more issues, typically linked to exhaust emissions.

Some are more serious than others. The check engine light is a signal that the onboard diagnostics system (or OBD II) has detected a malfunction in the vehicle’s emissions, ignition, fuel or exhaust systems. The emission control light came on this morning and has stayed on.


The user manual suggests that the light staying on constantly is less urgent than if it flashes. As a rule of thumb: Red warning lights need immediate action. Amber, orange or other colour lights often mean something needs checking by a garage. The warning light is in the bottom RH corner of the display, looks like an engine side view.

But most recently the light came on after a 1miles round journey. The Emission Control light comes on and goes off randomly.

The reason for the warning light could be a number of things. E DPF - needs regenerating 2.

Loose connection 5. ECT ( engine coolant temp sensor) You could try and do the regenerating yourself. Lambda Sensor fault. I drove for years with the emissions light on - garage could find no fault and I spent a fortune having all sorts of tests done. Sorted the problem myself - I now only use Shell V Expensive Power Diesel - took three tanks and then the light went out and stayed out until husband topped it up with a mix of supermarket and V Power diesel.


I am at work so i thought ide go to the garage later to get it checked out, but about an hour ago ide ran out of cigarettes so i drove to the shop (sluggishly) and when i got there i turned my engine on and off about 3-times and the warning light went out. Hi Wonder if anyone can help. I have an Astra Envoy 1. The manual says that this is caused by a fault in the emission control system.


What I would like to know is 1) What could possibly be causing this?
