TDCi felt different. It started off where as you lifted it, your foot would leave it, then the pedal jumped the last few centimetres and bounced on to your sole. Low and behold near the end is shows the plastic actuator arm to the back of the pedal is made of PLASTIC and is breaking clean off!
Can you drive a car with a clutch pedal on the floor? Clutch pedal sticking to floor. My clutch pedal has been sticking, acting weird for a long time.
I stumbled onto a video on showing the replacement process for the master cylinder and clutch pedal assembly and low and behold near the end it shows that the actuator arm to the back of the pedal is made of PLASTIC and is breaking clean off! Warning: Do not attempt to start the engine and drive the vehicle with the clutch pedal stuck all the way to the floor. You could damage the clutch, the clutch fork, or the transmission. Ford Focus RS SG RS2.
I then tried to dip the clutch pedal but it was resting in a position unusually low down to the floor. I figured out that I could use my foot to manually lift the pedal back up to the normal position but the problem keeps happening quite frequently. I go to pull out of my apartment and the car stalls. For the next minutes I tried using the clutch over and over again, and each time it stuck to the floor.
The replacement part now has a METAL piece, not plastic.
I have no idea how long that metal piece has been in circulation, but there are dozens and dozens of Focus RS owners complaining of this issue on brand new, off the lot cars. Does your clutch pedal in your Focus crunch? A clutch pedal is made for the driver to release the clutch and engage the clutch.
The contact stated that the vehicle transmission failed. This covers many model years so check if the part number applies to your car first. I am a trained mechanic.
Such faults are usually to do with defective seals on either the clutch slave cylinder (within the gearbox) or the master cylinder (behind the clutch pedal ). The clutch is made up three main parts - the clutch plate, pressure plate and flywheel. When the clutch is engaged (foot off the pedal ), the springs in the clutch press these three parts together so that the engine and the transmission are connected and spinning at the same speed. It seemed as though the accelerator pedal was stuck.
That could be something dragging either in the slave cylinder or the pedal linkage. Almost certainly needs a hands-on diagnosis. Change the height of the pedal, test it out, and then retighten the knob on the clutch pedal. Look to the master cylinder and the slave cylinder next.
Also, check you fluid level. Difficulty getting any vehicle into gear with a hydraulic clutch is usually due to air in the lines or low fluid.
That is not the same thing as the pedal not coming back up. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Take the intake tube off, open the throttle (either manually, or have a friend floor the gas pedal ) and spray the inside of the throttle body with carburator cleaner or brake parts cleaner. When the clutch master cylinder has problems, it can lead to issues with the clutch pedal and shifting gears.
Usually a bad or failing clutch master cylinder will produce a few symptoms that can. Cheap or part-worn tyres can cause cabin noise that sounds like a wheelbearing issue.
Aforementioned suspension problems may also cause a similar noise owing odd tyre wear patterns. FORD FOCUS Recalls in UK.
