Housed in the Maidstone Exhibition Hall and the John Hendry Pavillion - along with numerous outside pitches (weather dependent) visitors can expect up to 3stalls offering plentiful choice from times gone by. From a Fairfax point of view this was a small do, there being four pike, twelve musket, two sergeants, one drummer and one officer. It was an ECWS major though and there were probably a couple of hundred on the fiel certainly one of the opposing pike divisions I saw over pike in it. Due to the current regulations in relation to COVID-this event has been cancelled. Regardless of your historical knowledge, there is bound to be something for you.

There is a group for the War and Peace. I had no idea how big the show is. Re-enacting military history is huge. It is the world’s largest multi-period re-enactment show.

Rather lazily it shows just the few pieces of immediate interest to me rather than a bit of everything. It was fun, but did seem to be less well attended than previous years, not just visitors but stalls and reenactors as well. Requires free membership. HASTINGS, SUSSEX Reportedly CANCELLED.

Besides being a wonderful static exhibit, the Huey also took part in a Vietnam insertion and extraction re-enactment with elements of the Rolling Thunder, AIPS and LRRP Rangers living history groups. This page has the pictures that I took of the various re-enactors I both saw and talked to, to say I was overwhelmed by it all would be an understatement. After a rather wet and windy Saturday on and of the battlefield Sunday and bank holiday Monday were a lot warmer and dryer.

Tyldesley’s had a good weekend overall and very good battle Monday. After drill in the morning the performance was greatly improved. We will be setting up our Living Encampment at this event. Details to be confirmed but we will be there!

Had a nice chilled day at Detling last Saturday a bit different to rushing about around a race.
