In another circumstance, when your automobile is running at low speed the noise keeping coming out of car engine. Moreover, you have the feeling that your car is holding back by something indefinable. Your starter motor cranks your engine and gets it started. It has a component called a bendix that connects it to the engine when starting it, and disconnects it when it is done.

The bendix can become defective and not allow the starter to disengage from the engine. This creates a rattling noise. My car is making a noise when cruising Squealing.

A high-pitched squealing when you’re driving could well mean that your accessory belt (or “V-belt”) is. Unfortunately, if you hear a rattling when you’re driving it can be difficult to pin down the problem as it. If the identical rattle occurs when the car is moving, too, motor mounts or loose exhaust system components are a possibility.

Well a rattle sound when a car first starts then fades away is usually either lifter clatter or rod knock. Just means the hydraulic lifters have bled some of their oil out so they relax the valve lash until they are pumped back full of oil. Engine knocking sounds. Some modern engines naturally rattle very strongly during a cold start.

A constant clicking or. An engine rattling noise, or a clicking sound in an engine, can spring up from a number of sources. Fopeano on this one, it sounds like there is some excessive clearences in your valvetrain for a secon then it goes away, almost sounds like oil pressure isn’t keeping in the valvetrain when the car sets, so when you go to start it you get the rattles and ticks.

If your car is making a clicking noise when turning, it is likely you have an outer CV joint (constant velocity joint) that has failed because of a torn boot or old age, most likely a torn boot. Without going into too much detail about what a CV joint is, I will just give you a basic idea of its function and why it might have failed. Some rattles are minor and easily fixable.

Some are symptoms of future problems that can be headed off with some immediate attention. And some can be the last-minute warning of imminent mechanical failure. The noise typically goes away once the engine reaches operating temperature and the piston expands. Piston slap is more of an annoyance than a true problem, and a permanent repair would require an overhaul with oversize pistons, costing up to thousands of dollars.

It might also mean your are not operating in an even fashion, or that the rotors are warped and the brake drums need to be replaced. Start with the glove box to ensure it is firmly closed and that loose items, such as a pen or screwdriver, are not sliding around while driving. Also rule out rattling in other compartments, such as the center console storage area or within the rear cargo compartment.

Step on your clutch pedal and your transmission’s throwout bearing gets shoved against its pressure plate and starts spinning around. If it’s worn out or wasn’t lubricated properly when installe this is about the only time it’ll make noise.

Let off the pedal, be sure that whirling sort. Any of the components in the drivetrain can wear and start to make noise.

The drivetrain is essentially what makes your car go, and all of these parts move when your car is moving. With wear, the parts make contact in a way for which they’re not designed. Like exhaust noises, these noises are more noticeable.

The continues until I go into drive and start driving. And I never hear it again until the next time I start my car. Any ideas on what this could be ? Ive heard it could be a catalytic converter but I believe if it was then I would hear these whenever I idle like at a stop light or something.

Sure, there might be a bundle of rattle snakes living under the hood but if your car or truck’s engine makes a hissing sound it could also be an indication of a leak, either in the. Cranking the car makes my headlights dim or go out. My headlights are fine, but my car still won’t start. I Just Hear A Whirring Sound.

Car starter motors use a small device called an overrunning clutch, or one-way clutch. SL in the morning it will often clatter or rattle for about a second or less.

I've searched the forum and found a couple of suggestions. One is that the VTC gear on the intake cam is making the noise and the other is that the cam chain tensioner is slow in filling with oil (i.e. hydraulic pressure) and it is causing the noise.

Sometimes it rattles when we first start it. When starting our 2.
