There is, unfortunately, no general set time at which point you need to replace your timing belt. The replacement interval will differ across car models, and their engines. Depends how it has been serviced so far. If the oil has only been changed every 20miles or so then there could be excess wear and the the chain and tensioner may become noisy sooner rather than later. A timing chain runs inside the engine, as it needs to be lubricated by the engine oil.

Well the Astra is due for a service and I asked re timing belt and apparently the model I have is 100miles or years!

The 1bhp model 80miles cambelt change interval (Astra H). Could someone tell me what the actual cam belt kit replacement interval is on astra H 1. I can just about hear the belt on tick over, not a loud noise but audible with bonnet up, not sure if this is normal. Car is plate with 44. Replace at 105K miles.
