Caravan wiring diagram 240v

Wiring up your camper van can be very daunting at first, however if you follow some simple rules, it can be just as easy as wiring up a normal household plug. Below is a diagram that shows a typical installation of a 240V Panel. Caravan Wiring Diagram 240v.

Does anyone know any sites are any posts on here that give you a really good wiring diagram for caravans? Looking for one that sort of shows everything ie from the 240v side to charge the battery to the 12v car plug in to the caravan.


Whilst the general construction seems soli the 240V wiring does not comply in a number of ways. Replace damaged lamps with a like-for-like unit. The 240v mains system runs all house hold appliances such as T.

V’s, hairdryers etc. It also runs high wattage appliances such as fridges and kettles. The 12v system runs all low wattage items such as water pumps, strip lights etc.


A battery is used for the 12v system. If a power cut occurred you will still have lights and water. This is why it is important to check the operation of the battery.

I didn’t want to just rely on the campervan’s leisure battery for power, so I have decided to fit 240v mains hook up to the vehicle. With all the interior removed for painting, I decided that now would be an ideal time to install the hook up. I bought a campervan electric. All 240v wiring needs to be completed by a licenced electrician.


Note that to comply with caravan wiring requirements, the RC all power outlets and light switches must be double-pole, so both the active and neural are switched. Typical domestic power points only have active switching.
